Mardi Gras in New Orleans is a multi-faceted event, stretching for many days, weeks, or even months (depending on your stamina). While most people think of a rowdy Bourbon Street, frat boys, flashing boobs, flying beads and vomiting, there is a whole other side to the celebration leading up to Ash Wednesday (yes, it is actually a Christian-instituted holiday). A huge part and virtual backbone of the various celebrations is music, and so I present various snippets from some Mardi Gras adventures, focusing on those who bring the party, and then take you away with it… featuring The Detroit Party Marching Band, Ratty Scurvis and the Black Market Butchers and Panorama Brass Band among others.

If you've never experienced Mardi Gras, try to find some good Orbitz promos and book for next year.
