YOU CAN NEVER GO HOME AGAIN. . .
SO BUILD A NEW ONE

hope your turkey day was good. . . queens is really, really, really weird. and whoever the jackass is that came up with the street naming convention there should be burning in eternal damnation. cause that's what they left behind for anyone trying to find an address in that enormous borough.

and now from Jagjaguwar, here's some Okkervil River. Jagjaguwar has dropped some of my favorite albums of the past year or so. Black Mountain, Pink Mountaintops, and Okkervil River. i find it really difficult to describe Okkervil River. the words rock-y and folk-y come to mind. there's something delicate and earthy about them as well, with definite echos of Califone. this particular track would be more on the rock-y end of the spectrum. click on the link at the bottom to see more of what they've done. i would have to say that they are pretty great late-fall-early-winter music.

  1. you know you loved passing 74th street, looking for 74th ave, and finding out that it comes after 69th street - which somehow ALSO comes after 74th street - and ends up being in-between 75th road and 75th ave, several miles away from 75th street...fucking Queens. there's no forgiveness for that place. thanks for the lift!
