NYC-rapemap.org presents

THE SAFETY DANCE

Get down for a good cause. With Les Sans Coulette, Langhorne Slim, Xavier, and the Hazzards. DJ Shotnez spins after midnight. Win decadent raffle prizes.

NYC-Rapemap, the start-up website and organization dedicated to women's safety, will hold a special music benefit. All proceeds will go to the expansion and maintenance of NYC-rapemap.org. Started in December in reaction to the recent spat of sexual assaults in the Williamsburg and Greenpoint neighborhoods, NYC-rapemap.org is creating social media, by using online mapping technology to chart safer routes for women walking home alone. This is the first website dedicated solely to women and pedestrian safety in New York City/Brooklyn.

MP3:

Daniel Johnston is a genius. most respectable musicians seem to know this. however more than a few music appreciators don't seem to be clued in to this fact. a recent release called "Discovered Covered: The Late Great Daniel Johnston" appears to be finally giving him some due. it's a two-cd deal, one being covers by an excellent cross-section of admirers, and the other cd being a "best of" of sorts. it's pretty much an essential cd, and by far one of my top five from last year. so here is a track from one of my favorite bands to hear covers by, Tv On the Radio.
